This story starts in wreckage in the of events of September 11, 2001. As the dust began to settle, my children and I received a vast outpouring of love and kindness from friends and strangers both near and far that kept us going in those early days. But that was only the beginning. Life went on  – and we did too. With the clarity that only comes with time, I realized that the resiliency and beauty of the human spirit that emerged from 9-11 was only the tip of the iceberg of what we could be. I vowed that I would not let my husband, Ted, and all the others die in vain by making something good come from this nightmare.
